What it is: Depending on where you are in the Northern Hemisphere the summer solstice falls between June 20th and June 22nd. Summer solstice is a celebrationof the Sun and this marks the beginning of the Summer Season. The Summer Solstice is the day with the longest amount of daylight and it marks the point in the year, where the nights will progressively get longer and the day lightwill start to shorten. Now that we are making our way into the "darker" part of the year, it is a great time to take great mindfulness in protectiong yourself and home. Energy is very high this time of year, nature is fully thriving, nights are warm, days are long and it is a great time for energy work, spell work and connecting with your ancestors.
Ways to celebrate:
- enjoy and cook with seasonal foods
- attend a local street fair
- make a crystal grid
- smudge
- have a bonfire
- redecorate your altar with what represents summer to you
- cleanse your sacred space
- go swimming
- make sun tea
- solar charge your crystals
- early morning walks/hikes
- watch the sunset

Grounding practices: There are many ways to ground yourself. However my favourite practice is to stand still, bare foot on the raw earth. I prefer soil or sand but it can be anywhere you feel most comfortable or drawn to. Find your balance and center yourself. Take a deep breth. Close your eyes and imagine you are a tree. When you breathe in, imagine you are taking in positie energy, love, wisdom and guidance from the Earth. When you breathe out, exhale and release any stress, weakness, anxiety and pain you may be holding. Repeat this practice until you feel inner peace and calmness.
